In this perfectly contained 15-second spot (the first of six), the sad-eyed basset's droopy ears are raised by the whoosh of an unseen subway—a wry nod to Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch. The punny punch line: "Ventilated Hush Puppies." Fishing line taped to the ears created the effect. It took 20 takes, says art director Bob Barrie, but Jason seemed to "really enjoy himself."
