This film journey is through the lens of a remarkable council woman, Jovanka Beckles in Richmond, Ca. The film uncovers a pattern of human rights violations/infringements that expose surprising similarities between 'concerned citizens' and 'black community leaders' that attack the councilwoman because she is a queer black woman of color and efforts of Chevron to bend Richmond to the company's will through community interest groups engineered to look like organic grassroots organizations. To ensure its victory, Chevron stunned the community and increased its corporation weight and flooded recent elections with unheard of millions of dollars while fighting for control and the right to distribute resources in a fierce David and Goliath battle with stakes as high as ever for the community.
