Joan Petit was a french peasant who lived in the mid-17th century and revolted against the king of France, Louis XIV, in the Croquant rebellions. When captured, Joan was sentenced to die in a wheel, a medieval torture device that crushed his bones and joints, and led him to a slow and distressing death.
