The beginning of the XXIII century. Humanity has taken over almost the entire solar system. Charlie Marlow is given a secret mission in the outer reaches of the Kuiper Belt. There he is to find the enigmatic Kurtz - the commander of the farthest mining station, and return the results of his research. It quickly turns out that the entire reality built by people is a subtle game of appearances. The hidden fear of corporate officials, the progressive overpopulation, the unclear intentions of the people we meet - all this adds up to a delirious, anxious picture. What Marlow sees along the way and what she learns as she reaches her destination will change her perception of herself and make her question the meaning of the word "human".
