Story line
I came across this show one afternoon and was taken back to my childhood in the late 1960's, when you could watch kid shows that actually had something to give to kids besides 30 minutes of commercials disguised as a show. The show starts out with Engineer Ed coming out and allowing his "passengers", the kids in the audience, to introduce themselves and tell what their favorite game, color, food, or whatever is. Then comes the hilarious dialog between Ed and the puppet Conductor Carl. The two have great chemistry and the banter between the two is hilarious even for overgrown kids like me. Some of the stuff my kid didn't get, but I was rolling. Then he shows one of those old vintage cartoons from the 1940's or 1950's and that also really took me back. Then there was this game he had the kids play, it was called the "Choo Choo Challenge." They had to bounce ping pong balls across a table trying to see who could make their ball bounce the most before it went off the side. It was actually neat to watch these 4 to 8 year old kids do this stuff. After the challenge, Engineer Ed would talk about what could be considered complex subjects for little kids. The topic on this episode was about radios and how they work. But he explained in such a way that even a guy like me could follow. I don't know if this show is still on the air, but I look forward to one day seeing Engineer Ed and his puppet sidekick Conductor Carl grace my TV set once more. Bravo Fun Junction!
