Story line
The fictional detective has developed four classic archetypes: the Uber Rational such as Sherlock Holmes, the Intuitive like Miss Marple, the Philip Marlowe style Loner and the Normal, usually serving police officers, most famously depicted in Georges Simenon's Maigret.
Matilda and her Aunts each represent a different detective archetype: Jane, the Uber Rational, Beth, the Intuitive, Cat, the Loner and Matilda, the Normal; each bringing with them different methods of solving crime.
