In 1993 the show moved from Yorkshire down to London and became restyled as Whale On (1993), where the shows were recorded "as live" rather than genuinely live, to save costs. In his 2007 autobiography "Almost A Celebrity", James claimed that the change of production company was down to indecision on the part of Yorkshire Television: "For some reason, the executives at Yorkshire TV decided to drag their heels when re-commissioning my show for a new series so, pissed off at their indecision, I went off and found some willing people at London Weekend Television who wanted me."
