In 1996, the X-Files star Gillian Anderson hosted BBC's science documentary series "Future Fantastic." The theme song for the series was a track called Extremis by the British ambient techno collective called "Hal". Anderson became so impressed with their music that she asked to work with them in some fashion. She and the group soon released a new version of the track featuring Anderson in a spoken word performance. The video for the song was shot in Vancouver and London in 1997 and featured CGI robots and Anderson herself. Her performance turned out to be so racy that the band also had to release a second, toned down version of the video in order for it to play on TV in some countries.
