Story line
Ever since I first discovered The Great War team, I instantly became fascinated by their unique brand of coverage of World War 1. Even as Indy Neidell and Sparticus left to initiate TimeGhost and World War 2, I remained faithful to newcomer Jesse Alexander and bi-monthly coverage of post-WW1 conflicts. So, when they promised to cover the Battle of Berlin, I knew they were preparing something truly special. I was proven right. "16 Days" is an amalgamation of dedication and love to the craft of a historian. Its detailed graphics, tight script, excellent narration and nuanced coverage brings the Battle of Berlin to life like no other documentary has to this date. First hand accounts allows the viewer to get into the minds of the witnesses the battle unfold before their very eyes. I highly recommend anyone remotely interested in World War 2 to obtain the streaming pass or to set up a Nebula account to see it and the other products that Real Time History has produced. Just about every military, social and political aspect of the final days of the Reich are covered, intercut by interviews of experts in their field that discuss everything from weapons to war crimes perpetrated by either side. The documentary also takes its time to humanize soldiers and humans alike. The documentary even covers operations by the Second Belorussian front, which is often neglected in most documentaries of the battle. To conclude, I highly recommend this documentary to anyone interested. You won't be disappointed.
