Story line
I've only seen the first episode so far so everything is obviously based around that. Very similar to Maurice Richard (The Rocket, 2005), the cinematography and period costumes are breathtaking. Punctuated by flash-forward scenes - as opposed to the presently overused flashback scenes - it actually drives the show forward in a very touching and refreshing way. The acting is excellent, but maybe a tad caricatural in its portrayal of some of the big ''business'' characters in the show. Like in The Rocket, it takes us back to the early years of Béliveau and to his humble beginnings, and to how he met his one and only sweetheart. Unlike The Rocket, it portrays just as adeptly the more mild-mannered and level-headed side of the man we now know as Jean Béliveau, as opposed to the explosive fighter that was Maurice Richard. Another great Hockey movie, and a fitting tribute to another Québecois hero who left us only a little over two years ago. I'll be watching the other episodes in parallel with the Habs playoff games. If the Habs make it far into the playoffs, I'll be keeping the last episode for the very end. Go Habs Go!
